Ingredients
Scale
Fruit
- 3 pints strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 juice lemon (juice only)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Other
- 1 Angel Food Cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups whipped cream (homemade or store-bought)
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: In a large bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, lemon juice, and granulated sugar. Toss gently to coat the strawberries evenly. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to macerate, allowing the strawberries to release their juices and absorb the sweetness and tang from the lemon.
- Assemble the Trifle: In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, begin layering. Start with a layer of cubed angel food cake, followed by a generous layer of the macerated strawberries along with some of their juices. Next, add a layer of whipped cream. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top. Optionally, garnish with extra strawberry slices.
Notes
- For an extra touch, chill the trifle for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for optimal freshness.
- You can substitute angel food cake with pound cake for a richer flavor.
- Use fresh whipped cream for best texture and flavor.
