Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 36 Oreo cookies (regular, not Double Stuf)
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
- 16 oz (450g) semi-sweet or milk chocolate, melted
Toppings (Optional)
- Crushed Oreos
- White chocolate drizzle
- Colored sprinkles
- Crushed peppermint or nuts
Instructions
- Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreos (including the filling) in a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs. Alternatively, place Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin until finely ground.
- Mix with cream cheese: In a mixing bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese. Stir and mix thoroughly until the mixture is fully incorporated and smooth.
- Shape the truffles: Using about 1 tablespoon of the mixture, roll it into balls with your hands. Place each ball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Chill the truffles: Freeze or refrigerate the truffle balls for 20 to 30 minutes to firm them up before dipping in chocolate.
- Dip in chocolate: Melt the semi-sweet or milk chocolate in the microwave or using a double boiler. Using a fork or a dipping tool, dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, tapping off any excess coating. Place dipped truffles back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Add toppings (optional): Before the chocolate coating sets, sprinkle the truffles with crushed Oreos, drizzle with white chocolate, add colored sprinkles, or top with crushed peppermint or nuts as desired.
- Chill and serve: Refrigerate the dipped truffles until the chocolate coating is completely set, about 15 to 20 minutes. Serve cold or at room temperature and enjoy.
Notes
- Use regular Oreos, not Double Stuf, for the best texture and flavor balance.
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature to ensure smooth mixing.
- Chilling the truffles before dipping helps the chocolate adhere better and prevents melting.
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- You can substitute dark chocolate for semi-sweet or milk chocolate if desired.
- For a festive touch, use seasonal sprinkles or peppermint toppings.
