Description

This Irresistibly Easy Baked Spaghetti Pie is a comforting and savory dish that combines perfectly cooked spaghetti with a flavorful meat sauce, all baked together with a cheesy topping. It’s a delicious twist on classic spaghetti that’s perfect for family dinners or gatherings, offering a convenient one-dish meal bursting with Italian-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz / 680 g) marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Cheese and Eggs

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh basil or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish or a 9×9-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Make Meat Sauce: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and let simmer gently for 5–10 minutes to meld flavors.
  4. Prepare Spaghetti Crust: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and grated Parmesan cheese. Add the cooked spaghetti and toss well to coat evenly with the egg mixture; this will help bind the spaghetti together as a crust.
  5. Assemble Pie: Press the spaghetti mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared baking dish to form a crust. Evenly spread the meat sauce over the spaghetti crust, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
  6. Bake: Place the assembled dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow the pie to cool for 5–10 minutes to set. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Be sure to cook the spaghetti just until al dente to prevent it from becoming too soft during baking.
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or Italian sausage for different flavors.
  • Adding fresh herbs like basil or parsley at the end enhances the flavor and presentation.
  • Allowing the pie to cool slightly before cutting helps it hold its shape better.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated in the oven or microwave.
