Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 cup dill pickle juice (strained, no solids)
- 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder
- 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional, for slight sweetness)
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional for extra pickle flavor)
- Food coloring (green, optional)
Instructions
- Bloom Gelatin: In a small saucepan, pour the dill pickle juice and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the surface. Let it bloom for 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to absorb the liquid.
- Dissolve Gelatin: Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin dissolves completely. Be careful not to let it boil to preserve the texture and flavor.
- Add Flavorings: Remove from heat and stir in honey (or agave syrup), apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder if using. These ingredients enhance the tangy and savory flavors of your gummies.
- Add Color: If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring and mix well to give your gummy worms a vibrant pickle-green appearance.
- Pour into Molds: Pour the mixture into gummy worm molds or a shallow pan if you plan to cut into strips after setting.
- Chill to Set: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the gummies to firm up completely.
- Remove and Shape: Carefully remove the gummy worms from molds or cut into worm-shaped strips if using a pan.
- Store Properly: Store the gummy worms in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week to maintain freshness and texture.
Notes
- Make sure not to boil the gelatin mixture to avoid ruining the texture of the gummy worms.
- If you don’t have molds, use a shallow pan and slice the set mixture into strips after chilling.
- Honey or agave syrup is optional; omit it for a fully savory, tart gummy worm.
- Adjust the garlic powder amount to taste for stronger or milder pickle flavor.
- Use fresh dill pickle juice for the best flavor, and strain well to remove any solids.
