Bread:

  • 1 loaf of French bread, halved lengthwise

Garlic Butter:

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Cheese Topping:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the garlic butter: In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Assemble the bread: Spread the garlic butter evenly over both halves of the bread. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the top, followed by the Parmesan cheese. Add red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Bake: Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Broil: For a golden top, broil on high for 1–2 minutes, watching closely.
  6. Serve: Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute Italian bread or sourdough for French bread.
  • For extra flavor, add a drizzle of olive oil or use roasted garlic instead of raw.
