Description

These Greek Chicken Burgers are a flavorful twist on classic burgers, combining ground chicken with tangy feta cheese, fresh herbs, and traditional Greek seasonings. Served on whole wheat buns with lettuce, tomato, and creamy tzatziki sauce, they make a delicious and healthy meal perfect for grilling season or a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For Serving

  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
  • Sliced tomato, for garnish
  • Lettuce leaves, for garnish
  • Tzatziki sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, feta cheese, parsley, red onion, minced garlic, lemon juice, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each one into a round patty.
  3. Preheat Grill or Skillet: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet surface to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook Patties: Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook each side for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the burgers are nicely browned.
  5. Toast Buns: While the burgers cook, toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1 to 2 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Assemble Burgers: Place each cooked patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Top with sliced tomato and lettuce leaves.
  7. Add Tzatziki Sauce: Add a dollop of tzatziki sauce on top before placing the other half of the bun to close the burger.
  8. Serve: Serve the burgers immediately with extra tzatziki sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken patties are cooked thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) for safety.
  • You can substitute ground turkey if preferred, but adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • For a lower-fat version, use reduced-fat feta cheese.
  • Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • To keep patties moist, avoid overmixing the chicken mixture.
