Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For Serving
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
- Sliced tomato, for garnish
- Lettuce leaves, for garnish
- Tzatziki sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, feta cheese, parsley, red onion, minced garlic, lemon juice, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each one into a round patty.
- Preheat Grill or Skillet: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet surface to prevent sticking.
- Cook Patties: Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook each side for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the burgers are nicely browned.
- Toast Buns: While the burgers cook, toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1 to 2 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Assemble Burgers: Place each cooked patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Top with sliced tomato and lettuce leaves.
- Add Tzatziki Sauce: Add a dollop of tzatziki sauce on top before placing the other half of the bun to close the burger.
- Serve: Serve the burgers immediately with extra tzatziki sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure the chicken patties are cooked thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) for safety.
- You can substitute ground turkey if preferred, but adjust cooking time accordingly.
- For a lower-fat version, use reduced-fat feta cheese.
- Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
- To keep patties moist, avoid overmixing the chicken mixture.
