Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layer
- 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1¾ cups cold milk
- 4 oz (½ container) whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
Marshmallow Layer
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow creme
- 4 oz (½ container) whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
Assembly
- 16 graham cracker sheets
- Optional toppings: crushed graham crackers, chocolate chips, mini marshmallows
Instructions
- Make chocolate layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens. Gently fold in half of the whipped topping until smooth. Set this chocolate layer aside.
- Make marshmallow layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the marshmallow creme and mix well until fully combined. Carefully fold in the remaining whipped topping to create a light and fluffy marshmallow mixture.
- Assemble: Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal. Arrange graham crackers in a single layer covering the bottom of the dish. Spread the marshmallow mixture evenly over the graham crackers. Next, layer the chocolate pudding mixture on top and smooth it out evenly. Finish by adding another layer of graham crackers on top and gently press down to compact the layers.
- Freeze: Cover the assembled dish and place it in the freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours, or until the bars are firm enough to slice cleanly.
- Slice and serve: Use the overhanging parchment paper to lift the frozen block from the dish. Slice into 9 to 12 bars and serve immediately while frozen. Optionally, sprinkle with crushed graham crackers, chocolate chips, or mini marshmallows for extra texture and flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened for a smooth marshmallow layer.
- Use cold milk when preparing the pudding mix for best thickening results.
- Allow sufficient freezing time to make slicing easier and keep bars intact.
- Customize toppings based on preference, such as adding a drizzle of melted chocolate.
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week.
