Ingredients
Scale
For the Bread:
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (sprinkled on top)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Lightly spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper. Also, lightly spray the inside of the parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Thaw the Dough: Place the frozen bread dough loaf into the parchment-lined pan and allow it to thaw according to package instructions, typically between 4 to 7 hours.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a shallow dish, combine 1 tablespoon cinnamon and 1/4 cup sugar, mixing well. Set aside for later use.
- Cut Slits in Dough: Once thawed, slice 5 to 6 horizontal slits across the top of the dough about halfway through its depth. These slits will help the bread to pull apart after baking.
- Coat with Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Melt the unsalted butter and generously brush it over the top and inside the slits of the dough. Then, liberally sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top until fully coated.
- Let Rise: Place the loaf pan in a warm spot and let the dough rise for 30 minutes to develop fluffiness.
- Bake: Before baking, sprinkle the top of the dough with the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown on top.
- Make Glaze: While the bread bakes, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk until you achieve a smooth glaze. Adjust milk quantity to your preferred consistency.
- Glaze and Serve: Allow the baked bread to cool slightly, then drizzle the glaze evenly over the top. Serve warm and enjoy the delicious, cinnamon-infused bread.
Notes
- Use any brand of frozen bread dough but ensure it is fully thawed before starting.
- If you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor, you can increase the cinnamon to 1.5 tablespoons.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute unsalted butter with a plant-based butter and use a milk alternative for the glaze.
- Make sure the bread cools slightly before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off completely.
- This recipe can be doubled to bake in two loaf pans if serving more people.
