Description

This Creamy Ranch Chicken recipe features tender boneless, skinless chicken breasts cooked in a rich and flavorful ranch sauce made with cream cheese, sour cream, and a seasoning mix. The chicken is first seared in a skillet for a golden crust, then baked in a creamy ranch sauce until perfectly cooked. It’s an easy, comforting dish perfect for a weeknight dinner served with your favorite sides.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauce:

  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for finishing the chicken in the ranch sauce.
  2. Season and Heat Oil: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Sear Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the hot skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until the outside is nicely browned. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Make Creamy Sauce: In the same skillet, add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, chicken broth, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir continuously over medium heat until the sauce becomes smooth and well combined.
  5. Coat Chicken: Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the creamy ranch sauce over each piece to coat well.
  6. Bake: Transfer the entire skillet to the preheated oven. Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C), ensuring it is cooked through and tender.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the skillet from the oven. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the chicken for a fresh touch. Serve hot with your preferred side dishes.

Notes

  • You can substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream to reduce calories.
  • If you don’t have a skillet that is oven-safe, transfer the chicken and sauce to a baking dish before placing in the oven.
  • Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure safe cooking.
  • This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.
