Description

Delightful Caramel Apple Bites featuring crisp pretzels topped with melted Kraft caramels and fresh apple pieces. These bite-sized treats combine the perfect balance of sweet and salty with a refreshing apple twist, ideal for parties or a fun snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 38 mini twist or snap-style pretzels
  • 1 bag Kraft caramels (about 38 caramels)
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 red apple

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F (about 120°C) to prepare for melting the caramels on the pretzels evenly.
  2. Prepare the baking sheet: Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  3. Arrange pretzels: Place the 38 mini pretzels on the baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart to allow even melting of the caramels.
  4. Add caramels: Unwrap each Kraft caramel and place one in the center of each pretzel.
  5. Bake caramels: Bake the pretzel and caramel combination for 10 minutes, then remove the sheet from the oven.
  6. Prepare apples: While the pretzels bake, wash, dry, core, and chop the green and red apples into bite-sized pieces about 1 to 1½ inches, leaving the peel on. To prevent browning, soak the apple pieces in a bowl of water or Sprite.
  7. Insert toothpicks: Once the pretzels and caramels are out of the oven, insert a toothpick into each apple piece, ensuring the peel side faces up and the toothpick extends slightly from the bottom for easy handling.
  8. Assemble bites: Press each apple piece with toothpick firmly into the melted caramel on top of each pretzel, flattening slightly to cover more of the pretzel surface.
  9. Rest and serve: Allow the caramel apple bites to cool and set for at least 5 minutes before serving to ensure they hold together well.

Notes

  • Keep apple pieces in water or Sprite to prevent browning before assembling.
  • Use mini twist or snap-style pretzels for best bite size and texture.
  • Let the caramel cool slightly after baking to avoid burns while assembling.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on the apples before placing them on the caramel.
  • Store leftover bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
