Ingredients
Scale
Wontons
- 18 Wonton Wrappers
- 1 can (21 oz) Cherry Pie Filling
- 2 Tablespoons Butter, melted
- Vegetable Oil Cooking Spray
Toppings
- Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cinnamon Topping (or cinnamon sugar mix)
- Powdered Sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Wontons: Place a large piece of parchment paper on the counter and lay out the wonton wrappers evenly spaced.
- Butter the Edges: Melt the butter in the microwave. Using a brush, lightly coat the edges of each wonton wrapper with the melted butter to help seal them during folding.
- Fill and Fold: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of cherry pie filling into the center of each wrapper. Pull up opposite edges and pinch them together in the center, then pull all four corners up and pinch them to form a pointed bundle that resembles a small pouch.
- Prepare Air Fryer Basket: Spray the basket of your air fryer generously with vegetable oil cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the folded wontons in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch to allow even cooking.
- Add Cinnamon Topping: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar topping evenly over the placed wontons for added flavor and sweetness.
- Cook: Air fry the wontons at 350°F (175°C) for 8 minutes. Check halfway through at about 4 minutes to turn or reposition the wontons for even browning if necessary.
- Finish and Serve: Once the wontons are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer. Generously dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy this delicious crispy cherry treat!
Notes
- You can substitute cherry pie filling with other fruit pie fillings like apple or blueberry for variety.
- Ensure the wontons are sealed tightly to prevent filling leaking during air frying.
- Adjust cooking time slightly based on your air fryer model and preferred crispiness.
- Use parchment paper when laying out wontons to keep the work surface clean and prevent sticking.
- For a vegan version, use a plant-based butter substitute.
